Jordan School Networks Project

Past Project: 2007-2014

For the Jordan Schools Network Project launched in 2008, Teachers College (TC) partnered with the Middle East Institute—Columbia Univeristy and the Office of the Queen to design and implement the Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA). 

Beginning in 2007, TC helped the Office of the Queen to design an academy to support the development of educators and schools in Jordan. The idea was to provide a model of high-quality professional development and demonstrate its effects on school performance. From 2008-2014, TC designed and delivered a set of scalable professional development programs focused on improving instruction in science, mathematics, and English writing; these programs reached a large number of educators, administrators, and officials in Jordan’s educational system. The programs focused on instructional improvement and building leadership capacity in over 200 participating schools. The work was organized around networks of 15-25 schools and reached all regions of the country. A secondary goal was to develop the capacity of QRTA staff to deliver this kind of support to teachers and schools.

This effort was funded by the Jordan Ministry of Planning and United States Agency for International Development, and supported by the Jordan Ministry of Education.

 

Honestly speaking, my administrative skills have been developed so much after my participation in the {Partnership’s} training….After I received the training I viewed my role to be a supportive, continuous learner, and a motivator.
