Master of Arts in Curriculum & Teaching (Online)
The online Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching is designed with the belief that curriculum is about meaning-making. That is, people construct knowledge through the places, materials, conditions, and practices inherent in and beyond school spaces. The program’s goal is to cultivate thoughtful educational leaders who design transformative and responsive learning experiences across diverse contexts. Coursework prepares educators to critically examine pedagogical practices, develop innovative curricular solutions, and foster inclusive environments where all learners can thrive. Through collaborative inquiry and reflective practice, graduates become agents of educational change who bridge theory and practice while advancing equity and justice in their communities.
The online M.A. in Curriculum & Teaching is designed for early and mid-career educators (e.g. classroom teachers, education learning designers, administrators, specialists, and curriculum developers) looking to sharpen their grasp on pedagogical practice and curricular knowledge. It’s also ideal for practicing teachers seeking to advance their credentials in PK-12 settings, as well as professionals from diverse backgrounds interested in pursuing careers in education.
This 32-credit program offers personalized pathways through three distinct areas: Curriculum Design, Inclusive Education, and Contemporary Childhoods in Early Childhood Education*. A majority of classes are offered asynchronously, with occasional synchronous sessions, enabling students to complete the course requirements at their own pace while building a strong cohort and community. This flexible design allows students to earn their degree in just 16 months, all while maintaining their busy personal and professional lives.
*Note that this program does not lead to certification; however, teachers who already have NYSED Initial Certification, Grades K-6, can apply for the Early Childhood Extension if they take elective courses aligned with the Contemporary Childhoods in Early Childhood Education pathway.
