DLL Welcomes Two New Doctoral Students

 Julie Smith received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Saint Joseph's University (Philadelphia, PA) in May 2015. She completed her Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology with a TSSLD certification and Bilingual Extension at Teachers College Columbia University in February 2018. Julie's research interests include language and literacy development in bilingual (Spanish-English) preschoolers from low-income backgrounds, as well as the classroom- and home-based practices that facilitate development of oral language skills in this population. 

 

Ayah Sindi received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Pace University (New York, NY) in May 2016. She completed her Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology with a TSSLD certification and Bilingual Extension at Teachers College Columbia University in May 2018. Ayah's research interests include the cultural and environmental influences on language and literacy development in dual language learners (DLL), as well as the cross-linguistic influence of Arabic and English during bilingual language development.
