First of its Kind

Learn at one of the nation’s top graduate schools of education, currently ranked #2 by U.S. News & World Report. Unlike other programs that emphasize science, technology, or business, this online master’s in sustainability is grounded in the power of education to drive local and global solutions.

Immersive Learning Opportunities

As a student, you’ll benefit from TC’s deep connections across Columbia University, including the Center for Sustainable Futures (CSF), and will participate in a professional development seminar. You’ll begin and end your studies with required one-week summer sessions in New York City, where you’ll have access to UN representatives, international NGOs, and local leaders from the country’s largest school district. Summer site visits to sustainability hubs include the High Line and Governor’s Island’s New York Climate Exchange.

Built For You

This unique program includes online learning and short on-campus residencies, offering both flexibility and cohort-building. With a combination of live and asynchronous engagement, students learn in the way that works best for them. Course topics include environmental health, climate change, nutritional ecology, research methods, and more. All online students are automatically awarded the Vanguard Scholarship, which provides a partial tuition discount. They are also eligible for additional Financial Aid.
