About Marta Cabral

In her role as Assistant Professor at the City University of New York (CUNY) College of Staten Island, Marta brings artistic explorations and material inquiries to pre-service teachers of young children. Marta’s previous roles include Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Visual Arts at Penn State University; Adjunct Assistant Professor atTeachers College, Columbia University; and instructor at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. At Penn State, Marta coordinated the Saturday Art program for preK-12 children and mentored the undergraduate and graduate student-teachers who taught the classes. At Teachers College, Marta was the artist-in-residence and art program coordinator at the on-campus laboratory early childhood center, and taught graduate courses in art and early childhood education. As course facilitator at Boston University, Marta co-taught online graduate courses and served as masters thesis advisor.

In the studio, Marta works mostly with glass and random stuff – found materials combined with paint, glue, etc. At UrbanGlass, Marta makes her own glass work and helps teachers learning and creating ways of using glass in their classrooms and their curricula.
