Please join us for a book talk and discussion with Dr. Nicole Furlonge, Klingenstein Family Chair Professor of Practice Director of the Klingenstein Center Teachers College Columbia University. Dr. Furlonge will lead a discussion centered around the art of active listening, particularly in relation to how we engage race, gender, and class differences. Furthermore, she makes the argument that as active listeners, we might be more effective audiences for each other.
Dr. Furlonge is the author of Race Sounds: The Art of Listening in African American Literature. She earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Furlonge’s research examines the intersections between listening, cognitive neuroscience, cultural competency, school leadership and adult learning.
