The Vice President’s Office for Diversity and Community Affairs is planning an informal community conversation and gathering TODAY, Monday, July 11th, between 12noon and 2pm, in Everett Lounge.

The gathering is intended to bring together faculty, staff and students in the community to discuss the recent shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in Baton Rouge, LA, and St. Paul, MN. We know that there are many emotions - people feeling stunned and helpless, both about these crimes and the loss of life of police officers in Dallas.

We hope you will join us – either to participate in the conversation or simply sit in solidarity – as the community tries to grapple with both the emotions and demoralization that has resulted from these recent events. This is a place for people to gather for emotional support, and your presence is welcome. Come for a few minutes or stay as long as you like.

A light lunch will be served from 12-2pm. Salad and drinks provided - bring your own sandwich.

Please RSVP to lane@tc.columbia.edu (for planning purposes).
