The next installment in the Earth Institute Teach series is a virtual event that will focus on the science behind the COVID-19 pandemic. The live event will take place on Saturday, December 5 from 10:00am – 1:30pm ET. The training will aim to provide K-12 educators working in formal and informal learning envrionments with knowledge and insights into the origins of the virus, the transmission dynamics, what the future might hold, and the impacts of the pandemic on teaching and learning. Our experts from the Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology, the National Center for Disaster Preparedness, and the Mailman School of Public Health will seek to make sense of the questions that many have been grappling with since the pandemic first emerged, including: how did we get here, how do we learn from what we know, and where do we go from here? The full agenda, speaker bios, and FAQs are available here.

The event registration fee is $50, with a 50% discount available for educators working with Title 1 organizations and Columbia University affiliates. Please contact Cassie Xu (cassie@ei.columbia.edu) for the discount code. Documentation will be required to prove eligibility for reduced rate categories.
