Education systems are implicated in the climate crisis. In this presentation, Dr. Goebel will highlight the intersections of education and climate justice by reconceptualizing education as learning through relationality with all that is ‘beyond’ the human. She will share findings from a 6-month ethnographic study of how families, schools, and the natural world are interconnected in a coffee-producing region of Brazil. Drawing on visual and audio data and using speculative fabulation in this presentation, Dr. Goebel will reframe and reimagine how learning through human-nature relationships matters in building more sustainable futures.
