Dr. Karl Jacoby, Professor in Columbia University's Department of History and Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race and the undergraduate students in the Columbia University and Slavery seminar will discuss a multi-year exploration of Columbia's ties to slavery and its legacies. The evening will include student presentations from their current research projects. The discussion will conclude with a conversation on the obligation for universities to reconsile their histories in order to be responsive to their constituents today and how understanding our role in slavery allows us to affirm that Black Lives Matter
