Patrick Sitzer is a PhD student and a part-time instructor in the English Education program at Teachers College. Before coming to New York City, he spent eight years in the classroom between New Orleans and Chicago learning about inclusive literacy practices for elementary, middle, and high school students.

Sitzer's research covers a wide range of interests, from critical instructional practices, to transactional theories of reading literature, to emerging educators' experiences and hopes for their practice. Shaped by his early years of teaching in the 3rd grade classroom, Sitzer believes that good teaching is enacted when teachers create collaborative communities that help students flourish and engage with themselves, their peers, and the world around them.

Sitzer is a native of Minnesota and enjoys bread baking and exploring New York City.
