Teachers College Professor Emeritus of Music Education Raymond M. Burrows [BS 1929, MA 1930] was a concert pianist who inaugurated group piano lessons in schools throughout the United States and helped instruct a generation of teachers in his methods. Thanks to him, thousands of additional schools were able to offer music education. The Raymond Burrows Scholarship was established in 1956 by friends and former students to support students studying in the field of music.
