The Hollingworth Center
Often we are asked, “What makes your camp different from others?” While we distinguish ourselves in many ways, we are most proud of our passionate educators. As a program of Teachers College, each member of the camp faculty is a passionate educator dedicated to teaching and learning. All of our experienced Lead Teachers hold Master’s degrees from Teachers College. Similarly, our Assistant Teachers are current TC graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in the field of education. Thus, our educator community is grounded in a cohesive educational philosophy and pedagogical stance. The hiring process is highly competitive and our teachers do not regard their positions as “just a summer job.” Rather, they fully immerse themselves in the experience, enriching both the children and each other. Each camp group of 25 campers is led by four teachers, who in addition to participating in extensive professional development specifically designed for the camp experience, are annually certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
