The Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan covers a full year of care.

Please note: Insurance coverage can only be established upon registration for the academic term associated with the period of coverage.

Coverage Year for 2021 - 2022

Fall Term Coverage: August 15, 2021 - December 31, 2021

Spring Term Coverage: January 1, 2022 - August 14, 2022

The Columbia Plan may not cover all of your health care expenses. Read the Student Health Insurance Plan Brochure carefully before making your insurance decision.

Students enrolled in first term of classes for Spring Term only: coverage becomes effective at 12:00 a.m. on January 1 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on August 14. 

Students with December program completion and February graduation: coverage ends 11:59 p.m. on December 31.

Enrollment for dates other than those above is allowed only upon the loss of other health insurance coverage. Insurance & Immunization Records must be contacted within 30-60 days of losing insurance, and provide documentation of coverage termination.

By paying the Columbia Health & Related Services Fee, students can access the programs and services provided by the five departments at Columbia Health.  For more information on these services, please visit the Columbia Health website HERE

Teachers College students may voluntarily pay the Columbia Health & Related Services Fee by contacting

The Columbia Health Fee cannot be waived by students who (1) live in campus housing AND/OR (2) are taking 9 or more billable credits OR (3) are International students (regardless of credit status) in the Fall OR Spring semester.  This is true regardless of insurance coverage.
