MST Professor Named One of the Top 200 Public Influence Education Scholars in the Country

Dr. Christopher Emdin, Associate Professor of Science Education, was recently listed in the 2016 RHSU EduScholar Public Influence ranking, which recognizes the top 200 university-based education scholars who are doing the most to influence educational policy and practice through both their expansive body of work and their impact on the public discourse. Dr. Emdin is a founder of Science GENIUS, a program in which team of New York City high school students battle their own written and produced science concepts raps. He also serves as Director of Science Education at the Center for Health Equity and Urban Science Education, and is the Associate Director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education at Teachers College. He is a creator of the #HipHopEd social media movement and is the author of the award-winning book, Urban Science Education for the Hip-hop Generation. Dr. Emdin's current book is For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood and the Rest of Y'all Too: Reality Pedagogy and Urban Education.
