Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders

Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)

Communication disorders are a significant problem for individuals with Parkinson Disease (PD) including reduced loudness, monotone voicing and slurring of speech. Many individuals with PD report that they talk less, participate in fewer activities and go out of the house less often because it is frustrating to communicate and they lose confidence. The Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is an effective treatment to improve speech in individuals with PD and also minimize mild swallowing difficulties associated with PD. The treatment is named for an individual with PD, Mrs. Lee Silverman. LSVT has helped hundreds of individuals with PD improve speech and voice.

Clinicians at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders are trained in the LSVT techniques. Evaluations and therapy can be conducted at our center.

Please note that the Mysak Clinic does not accept insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. Clients who receive therapy at the Mysak Clinic are responsible for payment. The Mysak Clinic offers a sliding fee scale for those individuals who cannot afford the full cost of therapy.
