About the Strengthening Education System Sector Development Project

In 2015, ADB provided a multi-million dollar policy and project grant to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to support its Education Development Strategy 2012–2020. The grant will support key policy reform actions to strengthen education in the Kyrgyz Republic, and will finance investments that directly link to and support delivery of those policy actions and ensure they are effectively put into operation. About this Project

ICREST received a grant from ADB to provide consultant assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic’s Ministry of Education and Science (MES) in following areas:

  • Developing new learning standards and curriculum in math, science, history, geography and literature for grades 10 and 11.
  • Improving systems for teacher management, career progression and in-service training
  • Building capacity of principals and deputy principals in school management and instructional leadership.
  • Supporting 30 schools in urban poor, rural and remote locations to improve their teaching and learning environments
