Teachers College is currently pursuing accreditation of its educator preparation programs by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Pursuant to Section 52.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, the educator preparation programs offered by Teachers College are considered to be continuously accredited for purposes of meeting the New York State requirement that all such programs maintain continuous accreditation.
Previous Accreditation - CAEP
Teachers College programs for the initial and advanced preparation of teachers at the master’s level, for the preparation of school counselors at the master’s level, for the preparation of school psychologists at the master’s and doctoral levels, and for the preparation of school building and district administrators at the master’s and doctoral levels are accredited by the Council for the Accreditaion of Educator Preparation (CAEP). However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or other purposes.

CAEP’s mission is to advance equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning.
The U.S. Department of Education recognizes CAEP as a professional accrediting body for colleges and universities that prepare teachers and other professional personnel for work in elementary and secondary schools.
Teachers College has been accredited by CAEP (previously known as NCATE) since 2005. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for Spring 2020.
