Office of Accreditation and Assessment
Teachers College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
MSCHE accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region, which includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and several locations internationally. The commission is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that defines, maintains, and promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations, and resources. It examines each institution as a whole, rather than specific programs within institutions.
Teachers College has been accredited continuously by MSCHE since 1921. The last comprehensive self-study and site visit occurred in 2016. The next evaluation visit is scheduled in 2025-2026.
MSCHE awarded its highest marks, finding that the College is in full compliance with all review standards and offering no mandated recommendations for improvement. Click here to read a story about TC’s successful Middle States re-accreditation.
