Special Education Initiative in China
The Center for Opportunities & Outcomes for People with Disabilities is pleased and excited to announce its collaboration with Princeton-Shenzhen International Children's Learning Center, an early childhood education center located in the city of Shenzhen, China.
This project seeks to pioneer the implementation of inclusive education, with the goal of promoting the learning and development of children with special needs within a warm, responsive and supportive environment alongside typically developing peers. At the basis of this inclusive approach will be the Thematically Structured Teaching model that is currently used for the Saturday Enrichment Program for Children with Autism. Furthermore, with the assistance of the project coordinator, the Center will work on conducting assessments (including educational and developmental assessments), creating and tailoring curricula, training teachers, training and supporting families, and generally attending to various school-related activities to ensure successful implementation of this new education initiative.
