About Rebecca

Rebecca Mintiens is a 1st grade teacher at PS 859 - The Special Music School of America in New York City. PS 859 is a K-8 school that is modeled after a conservatory music school in Russia. Students take various music classes and receive two private instrumental lessons a week. PS 859 is a public school with a private partnership, which enables students to receive an amazing music education free of charge. Rebecca has been engaged in various committees such as: School Wellness, Community Building and as a Teacher Representative on the School Leadership Team. She earned a B.A. in Music and Theater for Children from Marywood University and a Early Childhood Education and an Ed.M. in Deaf Education from Columbia University Teachers College. Rebecca aspires to become a school leader who values music and arts and uses them as an avenue to teach and reach students.
