Preparations for Returning to Campus

Preparations for Returning to Campus

A checklist for the TC community

As we approach the beginning of the fall term, this checklist is designed to help you prepare for your return to campus and adhere to TC’s health and safety protocols and requirements once you arrive. We’re looking forward to safely and successfully reuniting as a community, and greatly appreciate your cooperation in these efforts.

We encourage you to review the information below. If you have any questions, please contact returntocampus@tc.edu.

Prepare for Your Arrival

  1. Get fully vaccinated and submit your proof of COVID-19 vaccination form, or submit your request for religious or medical exemption and receive approval. Submit your form or request at least 10 days prior to the date on which you need to access campus.

  2. If you are returning to campus for the first time since May 17, take a PCR Covid-19 gateway test and submit a negative test result. If you have not accessed campus since May 17, your PCR test must be administered within 14 days of your return to campus. More information is forthcoming about testing requirements for the fall semester.

  3. Review and agree to comply with TC’s Community Health Compact, which can be fulfilled by completing TC’s Daily Health Screening.

  4. Install the myTC App on your phone for easy access to the Daily Health Screening

Please note: You will not be able to access campus after August 16 until you have submitted a vaccination record or received a medical or religious exemption.

Prior to Your Arrival to Campus

Each day before your arrival to campus, you must:

  1. Complete the Daily Health Screening on myTC, via the myTC mobile app, or your home computer.* (TC students, faculty, staff and affiliates must complete the TC Daily Health Screening and NOT the ReOpen CU App before returning to campus in order to ensure that your ID card remains active and enables swipe access to campus buildings.)

  2. Get the Green Check email in order to access campus for the day. Once you have successfully completed the Daily Health Screening, you will receive an email with a copy of a Green Check.

  3. Show your Green Check to Public Safety upon entry to Teachers College, and swipe your TC ID card at the Public Safety Desk reader. Your access to campus will expire at midnight.

Note: If you receive a Red X rather than a Green Check, do not proceed to campus. You will receive an email indicating what steps need to be taken before you can fulfill campus access requirements.

If you have lost your ID Card, please visit the Office of Card Services, Whittier Hall Suite 1b, to request a new ID from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is a $20 charge for replacing lost cards.  Anyone who wishes to have their ID Card mailed to them should visit www.tc.columbia.edu/cardservices for those details.

*To facilitate efficient access to campus, we strongly urge everyone to complete the Daily Health Screening prior to arrival to campus. If you are unable to complete this step before your arrival, please work with your supervisor on the best way to fulfill this requirement.
