Assistant/Associate Professor of

Communication Sciences and Disorders (Tenure Track)


The Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a full-time faculty member to conduct a focused program of research, supervise graduate student research, and teach graduate courses.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an earned a doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, have teaching experience and present evidence of excellence in research. Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research areas complement those of our current faculty’s. Priority areas of expertise include but are not limited to 1) developmental child language disorders, autism, augmentative communication, 2) function and disorders of the motor speech system, 3) traumatic brain injury, dementia/medical speech-language pathology, 4) voice and voice disorders (e.g., the singer’s voice, transgender voice, alaryngeal voice, etc.). The candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to support a research program through external funding and to teach graduate courses in speech and language pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) licensure from ASHA is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities: Teach graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, conduct and supervise research in areas of interest and expertise, advise master’s and doctoral students, and provide service to the Department and College.

Rank:  Assistant or Associate Professor. The position is tenure-track or tenured, depending on the professional record of the applicant.
