The Department of Health and Behavior Studies at Teachers College, Columbia University seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor in the APA and NASP Accredited School Psychology Ph.D. program beginning September 2017.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in School Psychology from an APA-Accredited program, one or more identified lines of research relevant to school psychology, a sustained record of scholarly publications in refereed journals, a record of extramural funding, experience as a faculty member in a School Psychology program if at the associate level, licensure as a psychologist/ eligibility for licensure as a psychologist in New York, national certification as a School Psychologist by NASP, knowledge of and experience in psychoeducational assessment and the delivery of school-based prevention and/or intervention programs. An explicit commitment to diversity and to advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups, and once tenured a willingness to rotate and assume the responsibilities of DCT for the Ph.D. or Ed.M. program is also required. Professional experience in PK-12 schools is preferred.

The incumbent is expected to teach two courses per semester which could include assessment of cognitive and/ or social/emotional/behavioral functioning, consultation in school psychology, neural/biological bases of behavior, neuropsychological assessment, multicultural issues in school psychology, RTI, and early childhood assessment and intervention.

Located in the New York City, Teachers College is consistently ranked as one of the top seven schools of education in the nation in U.S. News. The School Psychology Ph.D. and Ed.M. programs utilize a scientist-practitioner model that places a high value on applied research and evidence-based clinical skill acquisition. Graduates work in leadership roles in a range of research and clinical settings that serve children and youth. Graduates of the Ed.M. program work as school psychologists or enter Psy.D./Ph.D. programs in applied psychology. Clinical training occurs in a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary outpatient clinic, the Dean Hope Center for Educational and Psychological Services, as well as through practica in 8 partnership schools, and community externships in the NYC metropolitan area. The clients served in these settings are predominantly from low-income inner-city environments.
