Educating Teacher Educators 


Position: We seek a colleague who will take a leadership role in the Educating Teacher Educators concentration in the department’s doctoral program and who will engage in transformational scholarship and teaching in teacher education. We are particularly interested in recruiting a teacher education researcher who studies university-based teacher education from an assets and/or social justice perspective to join our efforts to re-imagine teacher education. This individual will play a leading role in the Department and the College’s ongoing efforts to respond to the changing landscape for teachers and teacher education, while honoring our longstanding commitments to diversity, urban education, and university-school collaborations.


Qualifications: Earned doctorate, with focus on teacher education. Established record of research on teacher education. Experience in teacher education (pre-service and/or in-service). Experience teaching in PreK-12 public schools. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, especially as a university-based teacher educator.


Responsibilities include teaching courses in Teacher Education at the doctoral level and teaching courses in one or more of the department’s pre-service or in-service master’s programs.  Additional responsibilities include advising masters and doctoral students; mentoring doctoral-level teacher education researchers; participating in departmental and College-wide committees, such as the Teacher Education Policy Committee; engaging in cross-departmental collaboration focused on teacher education; and engaging actively in research and scholarship.
