Jen Cadenhead, PhD, RDN, is our new Goldberg Postdoctoral Researcher in Food Trauma in Children. Her work has focused on understanding the relationship between diet quality, the level of ultra-processed foods people are eating, and health outcomes, including among individuals with celiac disease and breast cancer. She also assists individuals of all ages in addressing their assorted diet-related issues, especially those in underserved groups and facing food insecurity. Jen is passionate about eating to address food sustainability and understanding the complex relationship between diet and health issues, particularly those which may be mediated through the intersectionality of genes and the human microbiome.

Jen received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and sociology from Duke University. She spent more than a decade in actuarial consulting and has a strong statistical background. She is a registered dietitian, with clinical training at a variety of institutions including New York Presbyterian Hospital and research training at Kaiser Permanente. She received her masters degree in nutrition with an emphasis on public health, as well as her doctoral degree in behavioral nutrition with a specialization in nutritional epidemiology, from Teachers College, Columbia University. She lives with her family north of New York City.

I look forward to having the continued opportunity to listen and amplify the voices of underserved families in our community to help them have healthier, happier lives.
