Dr Bloomberg is part of a faculty research group from several universities (including the United States, Canada, Europe, and South Africa) who are studying informal learning and intercultural understanding in urban public spaces that is funded, in part, through a grant from the Belgian government. She is also member of a faculty team at Teachers College that is developing approaches to supporting the facilitation work of adult educators confronted with new challenges in the face of emerging complexity and globalization. Columbia University's GLLI (Global Learning and Leadership Institute) which she helped establish, held its first summit workshop, TLCI (Thought Leader Co-Inquiry) in April, 2009.
