biographical information

Mia taught 1st grade in New Orleans and 5th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts at KIPP TRUTH Academy in Dallas, Texas. After completing her master's degree in the Literacy Specialist program, she rejoined the KIPP TRUTH faculty as Dean of Instruction. In 2010, Mia served as Middle School ELA Community Leader at the KIPP Foundation. In fall 2011, Mia began doctoral work in Curriculum and Teaching at Teachers College. She is a graduate instructor in the Literacy Specialist program, and she consults with schools across the country on implementing and strengthening the workshop model, supporting diverse readers and writers, and developing authentic assessments.
