Title: Summer Principals Academy Information Session - New York - 11/5

Description:

ATTENTION ALL ASPIRING SCHOOL PRINCIPALS & ADMINISTRATORS!
The Summer Principals Academy of Teachers College, Columbia University cordially invites you to attend our upcoming information session.  Come learn more about the program, hear from cohort members and alums and mingle over refreshments!

Event Overview:
We invite you to attend our information session to learn more about the Summer Principals Academy.  During this presentation, you will learn more about the program including the application requirements and process, curriculum overview, opportunities for scholarships and financial aid, etc.  You will also hear from SPA cohort members and alumni, who will speak about their experiences in the program and offer their advice and insights.

Program Overview:
Affectionately known as SPA, the Summer Principals Academy at Teachers College, Columbia University is a transformative graduate program for public school educators interested in becoming public school leaders.  SPA integrates practice and skill development with theory and research using case studies, simulations and teamwork.  Advocating innovation and risk-taking to promote institutional change, our program introduces new possibilities for student learning, school improvement, social equity and opportunity.

SPA is a cohort program enrolling over 150 graduate students each year in a rigorous 14-month, 36-credit program, given over two consecutive, six-week summer sessions and a 450-hour administrative internship during the intervening school year.  The internship is served while members maintain their current jobs in their current schools.  The schedule supports the reality of aspiring principals who are currently working teachers, team leaders, department chairs or supervisors who cannot afford to leave their schools or programs to attend full-time.  Graduates of the Summer Principals Academy earn a master’s degree (M.A. or Ed.M.) from Teachers College, Columbia University and receive New York State School Building Leader certification (NY has reciprocity with several other states).

We hope to see you there and please - bring a few friends!  Please be sure to RSVP if you plan to attend.
