Ed.D. Student, Curriculum and Teaching

Research Discipline/Bio

I am a second-year doctoral student focused on culturally responsive and sustaining literacy practices, secondary inclusive education, DisCrit, and youth participatory action research (YPAR). As a former secondary special education and English teacher, I am passionate about fostering accessible curricula that centers the voices, knowledge, and experiences of students of color with disabilities. Through my doctoral work, I aspire to bridge my teaching experience and research interests by investigating how YPAR can serve as an empowering pedagogical approach for students of color in inclusive secondary literacy classrooms.

As part of my doctoral fellowship, I collaborate on a transnational research team with scholars from Teachers College, the University of Pennsylvania, the Universidad de Guadalajara, and Mexican teacher-researchers in Jalisco, Mexico. Our work explores how student narratives illuminate educational inequities and inform advocacy efforts for educational justice.
