As artificial intelligence transforms the academic landscape, universities face unprecedented challenges and opportunities at the intersection of innovation, intellectual property rights, and emerging regulations. This timely talk explores how AI is revolutionizing research, teaching, and administrative processes while raising critical questions about ownership, ethics, and compliance.
Nazli Saka, Senior Product Council at Hubspot, will examine pressing issues including the ownership of AI-generated research, the evolution of academic integrity in an AI-enabled world, and the complex regulatory frameworks emerging across the EU, US, and China. The discussion will highlight how academic institutions can navigate these challenges while fostering innovation and maintaining their commitment to open knowledge.

Bio:
Nazli Saka is a distinguished corporate counsel specializing in technology law, with particular expertise in advising Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies from startup phase through scale-up. Currently serving as Senior Counsel at HubSpot, she brings five years of experience in navigating complex legal challenges in the technology sector. A Registered US Patent Attorney with a robust academic foundation, Saka holds an LLM in Law and Technology from UC Berkeley School of Law, a JD focusing on Intellectual Property Law from Suffolk University Law School, an MEd in Human Development & Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a BS in Biology from Yale University. Saka maintains several prestigious certifications, including CIPP/US and CIPP/E certifications from IAPP, demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of both U.S. and European privacy laws. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and is registered as a US Patent Attorney with the USPTO, allowing her to handle complex intellectual property matters.

Her multidisciplinary background, combining technology law expertise with business acumen and a deep understanding of privacy regulations, positions her as a valuable advisor in the rapidly evolving landscape of technology law and corporate counsel.
