Academic Affairs

Office of the Provost

The Provost and Dean of the College, Thomas James, directly oversees the Academic Departments and Programs of Teachers College, the Vice Provost’s Office, the Office of Teacher Education, the Office of Digital Learning, the Office of International Affairs, the Gottesman Libraries, and the Teachers College Record. The Provost chairs several committees (e.g., the Standing Committees on Tenure and Promotion and the Affirmative Action Committee) and, through the Vice Provosts, Associate Provost and Associate Deans, oversees faculty affairs, Centers and Institutes, academic administrative offices and student affairs.

Office of the Vice Provost

Vice Provost Katie Embree oversees the College’s academic budget, faculty and academic affairs administrative operations, the Dean Hope Center for Educational and Psychological Services, the Office of Accreditation and Assessment and the Office of Academic Affairs Compliance. Vice Provost Embree also serves as chair of several College-wide committees, including the Harassment Panel.

Office of Teacher Education

A. Lin Goodwin, Vice Dean at Teachers College, works closely with the President and Provost/Dean of Teachers College on teacher education, identified by Dr. Fuhrman as an institutional priority. The Vice Dean provides leadership and collaborates with faculty on college-wide teacher education concerns to develop innovative initiatives and implement reform in teacher education, locally, nationally, and globally. The Vice Dean also supervises all functions of the Office of Teacher Education, chairs the Teacher Education Policy committee, seeks external funding, and contributes to the field of teacher education through research, scholarship and service to the professional community.
