Roundtable in Second Language Studies (TCCRISLS)

Teachers College Columbia University

Overview

Welcome to the Roundtable on Learning Oriented Assessment website. This was the third roundtable (RT) to be held at Teachers College, Columbia University, and the first on the topic of Learning-Oriented Assessment (LOA). The LOA RT was held from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14, 2014. The goal was to convene educators, scholars, and assessment experts working on the interface between learning and assessment, particularly in language and content assessment contexts, so that they could share their work and exchange ideas.

The RT featured the following presentation types:

1. Theoretical approaches to L2 learning and assessment
2. Theoretical approaches to learning and assessment in the content areas (math, science)
3. Empirical studies on learning-oriented assessment in both areas
4. Technological innovations and other applications of LOA in learning or assessment contexts

In order to share the information with the widest possible audience, we have uploaded the following:

1. Abstracts of each talk
2. Video recordings of the talks (provided permission was granted)
3. Powerpoint presentations (provided permission was granted)
4. Responses to all online questions submitted during the talk (provided the presentation was
