About the Event
What is the Paulo Freire Initiative?
As part of Paulo Freire’s centennial celebration, Columbia University is launching the “Paulo Freire Initiative.” This initiative will spearhead a series of events and projects to celebrate Freire's work — starting in the year of his centennial and continuing beyond 2021. This project is supported by Teachers College, the Lemann Center at the Institute for Latin American Studies, and the Transformative Learning Technologies Lab, all at Columbia University.
What is the Paulo Freire Centennial Conference?
Our first event will be a virtual conference to celebrate Paulo Freire's 100th birthday on December 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9, 2021. Specialists in education and public policy on themes related to Paulo Freire's work and his influence in different contexts will attend this celebration.
