The Development and Validation of a Balance Outcome Measure for Huntington’s Disease, or HD-Balance Study works to establish a validated, clinical outcome measure for balance in HD. Currently, there are no validated outcome measures for balance specific to people with HD. Balance is affected early in the disease course, and progressively worsens over time impacting the ability to move safely and contributing to increased falls risk. Improving balance and preventing injurious falls is of interest to healthcare professionals for both rehabilitation and clinical trials. Development of an HD-specific balance OM is critical for capturing meaningful changes in motor function over time in persons with HD.
