The psychology programs at Teachers College prepare students to investigate and address the psychological needs of individuals, families, groups, organizations, institutions, and communities. The curricula across the programs also integrates science and evaluation into their professional training.

Students are instructed to use strategies of remediation to help others develop effective coping skills and responses to the environment. Participants of the programs develop and understanding to work with individuals of diverse ethnic, racial, cultural, and socioeconomic background. Program courses also provide rigorous training in both contemporary clinical science and intervention.

Graduates go on to fields in teaching, research, policy, administration, consultation, and psychotherapy. They become learning specialists and consultants, and gain positions in community agencies, educational research bureaus, and testing organizations.
