More than 60 people stopped by for the 42nd anniversary of the founding
of the U.S. Peace Corps on February 28th in the Private Dining Room.
Aimee Fregeau (above, right) hosted a table and shared her stories from
Ghana. Reed Dickson did the same with his insights from his time in
Namibia. TC has a proud history of involvement with the Peace Corps,
and its faculty and staff only increase and burnish that reputation.
Once the volunteers have completed their service, they then become
eligible to apply to the Peace Corps Fellows Programs to enroll in
graduate school. The first of these Programs began here at TC in 1985.
The graduates of this Education Program, numbering now more than 400,
continue to make important contributions to the world, with about 40
percent of them still teaching in New York City and close to 75 percent
of all the graduates still working in some aspect of education.
