TC Hosts NYC Mayoral Press Conference

At a press conference held at the College, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced plans to ask the Panel for Educational Policy to end social promotion for 7th graders.

At a press conference held at the College, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced plans to ask the Panel for Educational Policy to end social promotion for 7th graders.  His request comes as the result of the improved test scores of 3rd and 5th graders for whom this policy was previously enacted.  The mayor hopes the new initiative will be phased in over the next two years to better ensure students' admittance to the high schools of their choice.
