Rock Our World! TC's Tom Rock and Partner Compete in The Amazing Race

September 17th begins the tenth season of the CBS reality show, The Amazing Race, and TC's Director of Admissions Tom Rock is among the competitors. Teamed with his partner, Terry Cosentino, Rock competes against 11 other teams in a 'round-the-world race for a $1 million prize.

TC's Director of Admissions Tom Rock and his partner Terry Cosentino are one team among 12 in The Amazing Race 10, the tenth edition of the CBS reality show, The Amazing Race that airs as part of CBS's fall season on Sunday nights at 8 p.m.

Beginning at a special time on Sunday, September 17th from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., viewers can watch the competition among the teams as they travel through four continents, thirteen countries totaling more than 40,000 miles in less than 30 days. This season, contestants will travel westward for the first time, visiting locations, such as Kuwait, Mongolia, and Madagascar and the capital cities of Beijing, China and Hanoi, Vietnam. As always, the first team to finish the race will win a $1 million cash prize.

According to The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan, the tenth season's cast -- which includes the show's first Muslim team, the show's first Indian-American team, a gay couple, a pair of reigning Miss USA contestants, and an amputee who competes in Iron Man Triathlons -- is the reality show's most diverse group ever.

The show, which has been on-air since 2001, features teams of two or four contestants who race around the world in competition with other teams. The race, which resembles a treasure hunt in amateur rally racing, starts in a US city. Teams then follow clues and instructions to make their way to checkpoints in places around the world, eventually racing back to the finish line in the US. The last team to arrive at each designated checkpoint is eliminated from the competition.

"I think it's amazing that Tom's doing the Amazing Race. He runs marathons, travels the world for recruitment and is a comic on the side," said Debbie Lesperance, who has worked in the Office of Admissions for Rock for the last three years.  "Tom's energy will keep the show interesting. He has a way of making the best of a situation or leaves you thinking -'What just happened?'"

Associate Dean Don Martin, who was thrilled about Rock's participation, added, "What a great opportunity to see the world, showcase his commitment to physical fitness, and indirectly, represent TC!  I'm hoping Tom and his race partner win the gold!!!"
