TC President Fuhrman is one of the "100 Most Influential Women in NYC Business" profiled in the October 1-7 issue of Crain's New York Business.

Women on the list are "iconic movers and shakers" who "represent the fabric of New York" and are "role models for the next generation of women and girls," writes Crain's Jill Kaplan in her "Publisher's Note" column. The criteria for inclusion on the list is "impact that resonates."

"Susan Fuhrman knows how to fix schools," begins the profile of TC's president. The story goes on to cite Fuhrman's successful tenure as dean of the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, where she led the creation of a model pre-K-8 public school in West Philadelphia; her studies of state and federal policy on elementary and second education; and her current efforts to partner with public schools in Harlem.

Joining Fuhrman on the Crain's 100 list is TC honorary trustee Patricia Cloherty, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Delta Private Equity Partners, LLC. Others selected include Judith Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Foundation; Ellen Futter, President of the American Museum of Natural History; Randi Weingarten, President of the United Federation of Teachers; Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue; fashion impresario Diane von Furstenburg; Shelly Lazarus, chief executive of the advertising conglomerate Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Inc.; cooking entrepreneur Rachel Ray; Nina Zagat, co-founder of the international restaurant guide; and New York Times CEO Janet Robinson.
