One partner, Alice Wilder, 41, spent a decade as director of research and development, as well as producer and writer for the popular preschoolers' TV program "Blue's Clues."
 
When her partners saw a video of the kids' enthusiastic reactions, they knew they had a marketable product. But they did more research. Each partner ponied up $30,000 for working capital. A Web site, Thinkitinkitpublishing.com, went live in August. "The profit margin is not huge," Black said, but she called early sales "encouraging."
