Kagan Aids Early Childhood Education in Central Asia

A Turkish weekly newspaper highlights a regional workshop facilitated by Sharon Lynn Kagan, Associate Dean for Policy at Teachers College, on developing early learning and development standards for young children in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
Leading education specialists from governments in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have been meeting in Turkey this week to develop an implementation plan for the Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS), which provide guidelines for everything from teacher certification to curriculum for young children.

Facilitating the session is Sharon Lynn Kagan, Associate Dean for Policy and Co-director of the National Center for Children and Families, in conjunction with UNICEF.
