Every School A Community School

Speaking at Teachers College, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan articulated his vision for community schooling to educational leaders from across the US.

In the keynote address for The Children’s Aid Society’s ninth annual community schools practicum, Duncan described the community school as an educational strategy that can help students, especially in low-income communities, overcome issues in their lives that have become obstacles to their educations so that they are able to learn.

Educators from 24 states in the community school movement attended the practicum on October 22, 2009. Following his introduction, a panel of national leaders discussed how their sectors can support that vision.
