TC's Burton Honored With Distinguished Professorship by South China Normal University

Judith Burton, Professor of Arts and Arts Education, has been honored with a “Distinguished Professorship” by South China Normal University in Guangzhou.

Burton received the title on a recent trip to China during which she visited Guangzhou at the university's invitation to join a group of artists and educators in planning an international exhibition of graduate student artwork. Supported by the University and the city of Guangzhou, the exhibition, the site for which is expected to be Guangzhou itself, is envisioned as a graduate students' “Venice Biennale” (the globally recognized organization that researches and promotes new artistic trends). Burton also visited Beijing, where she gave the keynote address at the opening of the exhibition “Thingworld” at the National Art Museum of China and taught seminars at the University of Beijing and the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
