"From Latin America": ALAS' First Annual Art Exhibition
Macy Gallery at Teachers College, Columbia University, in collaboration with the Association of Latin American Students (ALAS), is proud to announce the First Annual Latin American Art exhibition titled "From Latin America" from June 9 through June 19, 2009. For the past 7 years, ALAS aim has been to create an academic, cultural, and social network within the Latin American community at Teachers College. Counting with the sponsorship and support from faculty members, different programs, and schools of Columbia University, this association has become a resource to learn about and address Latin America issues through academic, cultural, and social spheres.
"From Latin America" will feature the work of Marcelo De Stefano (Argentina), Havi Schanz (Argentina), Sofia Molina (Chile), Joel Vicente Flores Quiroz (Mexico), Guadalupe Victorica (Mexico), Olga Hubard (Mexico), Jose Antonio Vargas (Puerto Rico), and Elena Bouza (Spain). In addition to the display of paintings, the gallery will sponsor a screening of the Mexican documentary "De Nadie" and art-mathematics workshops for K-8 students.
The opening reception will take place on Tuesday, June 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Macy Gallery. All events will be held at the gallery unless otherwise indicated. Macy Gallery is located at 525 West 120th Street (between Broadway Av. & Amsterdam Av.), 4th floor of Macy Building. The gallery hours are Monday through Friday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Teachers College Student Senate, Macy Gallery, and the Association of Latin American Students.

2009 Education Across the Americas Conference A Huge Success!
