About EdForum

In 2002, Mark Berkowitz and Kecia Hayes began a new student organization called Positive Progress. The goal of Positive Progress was to bring together Columbia University graduate students from various disciplines to discuss issues in education. During the first year, the discussions piqued students’ interest in the topic of education and the juvenile justice system. The organization hosted a national conference on that topic, drawing attention to an important issue that is seldom discussed.

In 2004, Positive Progress officially changed its name to the Education Forum at Columbia University (EdForum). Still based at Teachers College, Columbia University, EdForum also draws students from Columbia Business School, Columbia Law School, The School of International & Public Affairs, and Columbia University School of Social Work. Today EdForum hosts a discussion series as well as numerous panel discussions related to contemporary issues in education. EdForum also provides information to its members about education elated activities and job opportunities.
