Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network Recognizing that the arts express the essence of civilization and nurture the highest aspirations of the human spirit, the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network is dedicated to the support of policies, practices and partnerships that ensure the arts are woven into the very fabric of American education.
Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education Lincoln Center Institute, an arts center and an educational institution, trains educators to explore the arts with their students through an experiential approach that supports broader learning across the curriculum.
Media Alliance Mission: Is a statewide membership organization of individuals and groups working together in the independant media arts-video, film, computers, audio, and electronic arts. The Alliance serves as an information clearing house, and acts as an advocate on issues such as access to media tools, free expression, and increased funding.
Media Consortium--Media Democracy in Action (see NAMAC) Mission: Media Democracy in Action is a national consortium representing independant, minority and community media service organizations and individuals. Its mission is to promote freedom of expression and to advocate for equity and access in telecommunications and media arts policy.
Meet the Composer Meet The Composer was founded in 1974 as a project of the New York State Council on the Arts. Led by the visionary composer John Duffy, Meet The Composer sought to enable composers to make a living writing music, and to increase their visible presence as creative artists. In its first two decades, Meet The Composer has grown to become a national organization, serving composers of every kind of music throughout the United States. Through a range of commissioning, residency, education, and audience interaction programs, Meet The Composer has revolutionized the environment for composers in this country, establishing broadly accepted standards of payment and opening the doors for them to work in cultural institutions of all kinds.
National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Musicares Foundation (subsidiary): to ensure that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical or personal crisis. Its primary purpose is to focus the attention and resources of the music industry on human services issues that directly impact the health and welfare of music people.
National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture Mission: A national association of organizations and individuals committed to further diversity and participation in all forms of media arts, including film, video, audio and multi-media production.
National Art Education Association NAEA exists to "promote art education through Professional Development, Service, Advancement of Knowledge, and Leadership." Over 17,000 art educators from every level of instruction: early childhood, elementary, intermediate, secondary, college and university, administration, museum education, lifelong learning . . . also publishers, manufacturers and suppliers of art materials, parents, students, retired early childhood, elementary, intermediate, secondary, college and university, administration, museum education, lifelong learning.
National Artists Equity Association A non-profit, aesthetically non-partisan, national organization for professional visual artists.Founded in 1947 as a means of working collectively to address the concerns of the profession, it has been the only national org. whose primary purposes are to work for improved economic conditions for visual artists and for the expansion and protection of artists' rights.Operates at federal, state and local levels through headquarters in Washington DC, its chapter organizations and members-at-large.
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) The National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) is the membership organization of the nation's state and jurisdictional arts agencies. NASAA's mission is to advance and promote a meaningful role for the arts in the lives of individuals, families and communities throughout the United States. We empower state arts agencies through strategic assistance that fosters leadership, enhances planning and decision making, and increases resources.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People The primary focus of the NAACP continues to be the protection and enhancement of the civil rights of African Americans and other minorities.
National Association of Music Education (MENC) The mission of MENC: The National Association for Music Education is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.Music allows us to celebrate and preserve our cultural heritages, and also to explore the realms of expression, imagination, and creation resulting in new knowledge. Therefore, every individual should be guaranteed the opportunity to learn music and to share in musical experiences.
National Association of Schools of Dance NASD is an organization of schools, colleges, and universities that offer dance studies. Founded in 1981 it has 54 institutional members. It established threshold standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials. Institutional membership is obtained and continued through the peer-review process of accreditation. NASD provides statistical information, professional development, and policy analysis services. It also makes available for purchase many helpful publications, including a list of accredited institutions.
National Association of Schools of Theater NAST is an organization of schools, colleges, and universities that offer theatre studies. Founded in 1969, it has 128 institutional members. Its established threshold standards or undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials. It also makes available for purchase many helpful publications, including a listing of accredited institutions.
National Dance Association NDA exists to "promote the development and implementation of sound philosophies and policies in all forms of dance and in dance education at all levels." The National Dance Association is the leader of artistic and educationally effective dance programs as they impact the lives of all people. The mission of the National Dance Association is to increase knowledge, improve skills, and encourage sound professional practices in dance education while promoting and supporting creative and healthy lifestyles through high quality dance programs.
National Dance Education Association As a non-profit organization, NDEO is dedicated to promoting standards of excellence in dance education through the development of quality education in the art of dance through professional development, service and leadership. We hold public discussions, sponsor institutes, workshops, conferences and programs. We develop guidelines, promote standards, and design curricula.
National Dance Institute National Dance Institute was founded in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence. Each year, the programs of NDI inspire thousands of children, reaching across social, ethnic, and economic boundaries and including children facing physical and emotional challenges.
National Endowment for the Arts The National Endowment for the Arts provides national recognition and support to significant projects of artistic excellence, thus preserving and enhancing our nation's diverse cultural heritage. The Endowment was created by Congress and established in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. This public investment in the nation's cultural life has resulted in both new and classic works of art reaching every corner of America.
National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts NFAA's mission is to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional developments, and to raise appreciation for, and support of, the arts in American society. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, the NFAA is supported nationally by a broad base of individuals, corporations, foundations and philanthropic institutions. NFAA's national ARTS corporate sponsorship initiative offers measurable marketing and advertising benefits. Beyond underwriting individual ARTS awards, supporters sponsor ARTS participation and awards in specific states and in particular arts disciplines.
National Gallery of Art The mission of the National Gallery of Art is to serve the United States of America in a national role by preserving, collecting, exhibiting, and fostering the understanding of works of art, at the highest possible museum and scholarly standards.
National Indigenous Arts Advocacy Association The National Indigenous Arts Advocacy Association is an organisation that advocates for the greater recognition and acceptance of the legal and cultural rights of Indigenous artists. NIAAA is a national Indigenous arts and cultural service and advocacy association which advocates for the continued and increased recognition and protection of the rights of Indigenous artists. NIAAA also provides culturally appropriate advice, information, referrals and support services to Indigenous artists and organisations.
NP Action An online resource for nonprofit advocacy with the goal to encourage greater participation by nonprofits in the policy arena, and to strengthen their ability to advocate for their causes. NPAction serves as a "hub" for organization and sector resources regarding policy participation and civic engagement. It is designed to break down knowledge barriers, helping organizations to quickly and effectively locate the information they need.
Through NPAction, organizations can learn the basics of nonprofit advocacy; connect to policymakers and the media; discuss and voice opinions on advocacy issues; test advocacy knowledge; and access one of the largest online directories of advocacy resources-- focused on, and edited by, the nonprofit sector itself.
National Task Force for Folk Arts in Education CARTS is a project of City Lore, a cultural organization whose mission is to document, preserve and present the living cultural heritage of New York and other cities. As a group of folklorists, writers, anthropologists, historians, artists, and educators, we have found that acknowledging and linking the various places where learning occurs—home, community, and classroom—exponentially increases analytic skills, cultural understanding, and literacy for students. It also provides a strong link between the humanities and sciences, enabling students to engage their studies in a relevant, experiential manner.
New York Foundation for the Arts For thirty years, the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has served individual artists, promoted their freedom to develop and create and provided the broader public with opportunities to experience and understand their work. President's Committee on Arts and the Humanities The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities plays a key role within each Administration in identifying issues and developing initiatives in the arts and the humanities of critical importance to the nation. Established by Executive Order in 1982 to help restore and incorporate the arts and humanities in government objectives, the Committee serves the Administration by advising on the effectiveness of these endeavors, providing a mechanism for interagency collaboration, and undertaking projects extending the reach and quality of national arts and the humanities programs. It carries out research and recognition programs that underscore the civic, social and educational value of the arts and humanities, and it works to stimulate increased private investment.Because of its unique public/private structure, the Committee provides a valuable forum for strategic thinking about culturally significant issues.
Public Broadcasting Service PBS, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is a private, non-profit media enterprise owned and operated by the nation's 349 public television stations. A trusted community resource, PBS uses the power of noncommercial television, the Internet and other media to enrich the lives of all Americans through quality programs and education services that inform, inspire and delight. Available to 99 percent of American homes with televisions and to an increasing number of digital multimedia households, PBS serves nearly 100 million people each week.
Public Policy and Arts Administration It is the purpose of Public Policy and Arts Administration (PPAA) to provide for an informal yet focused exchange of ideas about research and inquiry in the field of arts administration. PPAA provides an opportunity for those concerned with policy issues to come together to learn of each other's activities, discuss work in the field, and further policy and research efforts.
Smithsonian Institution, Education and Outreach The Smithsonian Institution is as an independent trust instrumentality of the United States holding more than 140 million artifacts and specimens in its trust for "the increase and diffusion of knowledge". The Institution is also a center for research dedicated to public education, national service, and scholarship in the arts, sciences, and history.
Theatre Communications Group Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is a national service organization that exists to strengthen, nurture and promote the not-for-profit American theatre.  TCG serves over 425 member theatres and 17,000 individual members.  Our programs and services include: American Theatre magazine, the ArtSEARCH employment bulletin, plays, translations and theatre reference books; grants to theatres and theatre artists ($4.4 million in 2001-2002); workshops, conferences, forums and publications for theatre professionals and trustees; research on not-for-profit theatre finances and practices; arts advocacy; and the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute.

Young Audiences Since 1952, Young Audiences has been presenting performing and visual artists to children. The Young Audiences National Organization certifies YA chapters for program quality, provides a wide range of services, and advocates quality arts education for all children.
