What is SIE?

Welcome New and Continuing Students,

The Society for International Education is the one of oldest network for students and others in the Department of International and Transcultural Studies to share and exchange information on conferences, job opportunities, relevant events and department news through its three email listservs (SIE, SIE-Jobs, SIE-Events). SIE was one of the first student-based organizations at Teachers College to establish its own newsgroup, web page and an email listserv disseminating information on conferences and news relating to international and comparative education, job and internship opportunities, and department news.

Over the past three years, SIE has been focusing on its resources on creating a useful networking system for students and alumni/ae to be in touch with others who are involved in similar work and research to exchange cultural, academic and professional information with each other-both during and following their time at Columbia University and its affiliates. We hope that this new system will be used extensively to assist students and alumni/ae with networking, research innovation, opportunities and cultural understanding. We also have a new link to a research tool our website designed specifically for the convenience and aid of students and professionals in the fields of International and Comparative Education, Environmental and Human Rights, and include links to relevant sites for area studies. We look forward to getting to know you and hope that SIE is an interesting and useful organization for your studies and future in international work.
