SIE's History

The Society for International Education was founded in 1992, under the original name of "Students and Scholars Organization."

Since its founding, SIE has been actively involved and responsible for organizing events of international scope for students, as well as arranging lectures with international scholars and practitioners in comparative educational studies and international development.

SIE has also established a network for students and others in the department to share and exchange information on conferences, job opportunities, relevant events and department news through our email listserv. SIE was one of the first student-based organizations at Teachers College to establish its own newsgroup, web page and an email listserv disseminating information on conferences and news relating to international and comparative education, job and internship opportunities, and department news.
