The Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) team at UN Climate Change and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia organized an ACE Hub event on September 20th at Teachers College as part of the Climate Week NYC official events.
The over-arching goal of ACE is to empower all members of society to engage in climate action, through education, training, public awareness, public participation, public access to information, and international cooperation on these issues. The event showcased the ACE Hub as an example of a regional collaboration with the UNFCCC that aims to accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The event further highlighted the role of subnational entities and governments in taking climate action, encouraging regional and multi-stakeholder collaboration with the UNFCCC, and growing collaborative partnerships with the ACE Hub.
The Center for Sustainable Futures provided the venue for the event and facilitated the event promotion. Director of the Center for Sustainable Futures, Professor Oren Pizmony-Levy, provided welcoming remarks by addressing the importance of ACE and sharing the Center’s main activities in research, teaching & training, and public engagement.
Youth is the focus of the ACE Hub and also this event. Meaningful youth engagement was repeatedly brought up by panelists and audiences during the event. The event gave people invaluable opportunities to have dialogues to advance the agenda of regional and multi-stadholder collaboration with the UNFCCC. Please find the recording of the event HERE.
